Is it in conformity with how we have instructed and supported our students? Start the day with a check-in. Have your students interview each other throughout the year about topics such as cultural background, family traditions or opinions about a current event. When students are motivated to write stories to share with the class, they might be more eager to share their day.

Reflection can enhance authentic assessment as students determine how to grapple with real problems and challenges.
